Electric Vehicles
EVs
The Institute for Energy Research (IER) paper concludes: "As this report clearly shows, at least in the near term, a forced transition to 100% EVs is not possible. Consumer resistance in the United States is widespread, and the factors that cause that resistance, such as cost and range anxiety, are not subject to near-term solutions. Even if Congress were to create new legal authority to allow the government to override consumer choice, there are still practical limitations on the pace of growth that EVs can achieve in areas like mineral production and charging infrastructure. Those limitations are independent of the costs of an EV transition. Still, the high costs of a transition discussed in the paper also limit the pace of EV adoption because, ultimately, someone must pay for all those costs, whether it's consumers or governments. This near-term inability to achieve an EV transition in the U.S. should be more prominent in the policy and media discussion. It is frequently assumed that a rapid transition is already happening and inevitable."
"Ford's electric vehicle unit reported that losses soared in the first quarter to $1.3 billion, or $132,000 for each of the 10,000 vehicles it sold in the first three months of the year."
Our beloved leaders cannot use EV because they cannot be made bomb proof.
"On September 9, 2025, another Lion Electric school bus burst into flames in Montreal — this time with five children and their driver on board. Thankfully, everyone escaped safely, but this marks the third Lion Electric bus fire in less than a year (Ascot Corner, Huntsville, and now Montreal)."
"A recent survey by the American Automobile Association (AAA) found that only 16% of potential buyers were either "likely" or "very likely" to buy a fully electric vehicle as their next car, while 63% were "unlikely/very unlikely."
The "likely/very likely" category was down from 25% in 2022 and was the lowest level of EV interest recorded by AAA surveys since 2019."
"Legendary brands are on the rocks, and automotive suppliers are filing for insolvency as the European market struggles to cope with the Net Zero insanity of Westminster and Brussels."
"Wait until the economy takes a complete nose dive. I expect EV charging stations, surveillance cameras, and cell towers to be a thing of the past once all their valuable copper wires are stripped and sold onto the black market."
Thousands of car dealerships are begging President Biden to "tap the breaks" on electric vehicle mandates. In a letter to the president, close to 4,000 dealers have asked the administration to repeal regulations that push electric vehicle adoption. Why? Because consumers aren't buying them. Also because they are NOT environmentally friendly or reliable.
A cargo ship fire has claimed one life and injured many others. With another 3,000+ cars lost on top of the 3,000+ from the burning of the Felicity Dawn last year, is that enough for EV transport now? What does this mean for car manufacturers?
Mass Surveillance
New vehicles are more and more connected to everything around them, both electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engines (ICEs). New vehicles are equipped with sensors that not only "see" its immediate surroundings, but can also "talk" to other vehicles and roadside infrastructure. This is the evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT), supposedly to make our lives safer. But, is it really necessary? Will it make us safer?
"Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) describes wireless communication between a vehicle and any entity that may affect, or may be affected by, the vehicle. Sometimes called C-V2X, it is a vehicular communication system that is intended to improve road safety and traffic efficiency while reducing pollution and saving energy."
"
V2X is a leader in high-accuracy Open Road Tolling (ORT) solutions. V2X’s tolling solutions rely on cutting-edge technologies like high-resolution imaging, transponder position tracking, and optical vehicle identification.
Capabilities Include:
- OmniToll: accurate detection and tracking using an integrated Digital Video Audit System (DVAS)
- Advanced camera technology with specialized lenses and synchronized LED illuminators
- High-speed scanning lasers accurately detect, track, and classify vehicles, triggering SmartPIX cameras for optimal image capture.
- Laser scan data enables real-time vehicle location, tracking, and classification
- Optical Detection Intelligent Network (ODIN) is a connected, cutting-edge product performing the work of up to seven devices in one. With its ability to accurately detect, track, classify and image vehicles, ODIN can replace old all electronic tolling systems"
"Vision Zero is a philosophy that encourages changes in the way roads work to ensure all fatalities and life-altering injuries caused by auto collisions are eliminated. Its main goal is to make the road network safer, healthier, and equitable for all users, no matter their mode of choice, level of mobility, and other factors.
Vision Zero involves a major paradigm shift from the traditional approach to road engineering and design. The table below, based on the Vision Zero Network's guidelines, compares the traditional approach to the Vision Zero approach.
Traditional Approach:
- Traffic deaths are inevitable;
- Human behavior needs to be perfected;
- We must prevent collisions;
- Road safety is an individual responsibility;
- Saving lives is expensive.
Vision Zero:
- Traffic deaths are preventable;
- Humans make mistakes;
- We must prevent fatal and severe injuries;
- Road safety requires a systems approach;
- Saving lives is not expensive."
We have seen changes already with traffic calming barriers, chicanes, bulb-outs, speed humps & bumps, reduced speed limits and more ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Cameras installed, to name a few. Make no mistake, this is the slippery slope where the goal is to eliminate private cars from the roadway and imprison us in 15 Minute Cities (or SMART Cities).
In about 4 years, newly manufactured vehicles within the USA will be required to have a kill switch, which can be engaged remotely by authorized government agencies. Fully electric vehicles (EV) can already be disabled remotely, since they are always connected to the "cloud" of the manufacturer.
